Technology

For the past 2 years many company’s within our industry have been talking about a
manufacturing process called vacuum infusion . At Hayden surf craft we have not only been talking ,
we have been doing it , and currently are the only manufacturer of surf craft in
Australia today that uses this advanced technology.

What is Vacuum Infusion ?
And how does it advantage the Paddler ?
Infusing
All the Material is laid in the mould first

InfusingVacuum Infusion is a manufacturing process where a combination of multiple
layers of glass fibre cloths are placed in a mold, in a dry state .
The whole mold is then covered and sealed with a thin plastic film ,
A vacuum pump is then used to evacuate all the air from under the film ,
this compacts the layers of glass fibre cloths much more than could possibly be
achieved under normal hand laying . The small cavity that remains between
the film and the mold is then infused with resin , when the cavity is full over
the entire surface of the mold the resin and vacuum are turned off and
it is left to cure .The advantage for the paddler is a stiffer more durable
craft that is totally balanced and on weight .
The mould is then put
under vacuum and the
 resin drawn through
the fibers.

This is achieved by giving us the ability to produce craft, using combinations of glass fibre cloths of a superior quality to those used in hand laid craft. The glass fibre is the component that gives the craft strength not the resin, because the fibres are compacted so tightly less resin is used to saturate them. This allows us to put a massive 43 % more glass fibre material into our craft , yet still maintain a weight of 18 kg on single skis. This combined with the new range of internal reinforcing materials we now use , we believe makes Hayden skis the toughest and most durable on the market today. This new technologically advanced method of manufacture we have committed to also addresses other issues, not least of which is the affect on our environment, it totally stops the release of gases and harmful chemicals into the atmosphere that would contribute to the pollution of our planet. Work place health and safety is also improved, providing a more pleasant environment for our employees. Infusing
The fibers are
 100% wet out.
